I had the same issue with the strap being loose on Die-Tech. I put a piece of foam in there as well. I dont think its a 2009 issues as I have a 2008.
Other then that I was happy with the install.

Default Evap canister

Yes there is a visual inspection and it is pass or fail. Honestly, the chances of a tech looking that close and knowing that the canister had been relocated is small BUT if could happen and it would be more problems than you want.

That's the first I've heard of an issue. What type of tolerance are we talking about? You can send me a PM to avoid taking the post off topic. Once we determine what the issue is we'd be happy to send you out the corrected pieces. It'd be wonderful if you had pictures of the issue from when you were installing it.

Also anyone else that has had this issue please send a PM.

EXCELLENT POINT! I have Failed a smog test before because of an aftermarket locking gas cap. My wife's BMW failed the visual due to a cold air intake (no EO#?), I had to buy and install a new factory one and re-test. Guy felt bad for failing me, but I understand that they will not put their license on the line. Smog test centers in California are under enormous scrutiny from the government. And don't forget, we even have "road-side" smog inspections (like DUI checkpoints) in The Peoples Republic of Kalifornia.

With a late model car in California, beating the sniffer is easy; its the visual inspection that kills you most of the time. I'm going with the skid.
