If they only cost $75 to replace, I'll take my chances. I won't pass emissions here without the stupid thing unless I can fake out the computer, so I do need it.
With the exception of an oil pan skid (something that didn't come with the jeep from the factory), I still run all factory skids under my white 07. They do their job well and have never let me down.

I run an Evap skid on mine and I haven't noticed any difference with the weight. I'm thinking that when it comes down to no skid, skid, or relocation for the Evap canister, it's a matter of personal preference.

I have a PS evap skid that I will be installing on my 2012 JKUR due to fact that several people have torn their rear DS boot on the stock evap skid with a lift installed. The PS skid gives you more clearance from the boot.

you could just drill new mounting holes in your 2012 factory skid and shift it over about an inch. you can do this for FREE and in about 10 min.

Not bad. I'm gonna look into that. I've already bent my oil pan on the bottom so I'm sure I need it bad.

Kind of makes me wonder, if you come down on your oil pan enough to dent it, then you have a skid instead, where does that weight all go... onto the motor mounts I guess. At some point you have to decide what to sacrifice, but the skid seems like a good way to go.

So do you think you can remove all the bolts from your oil pan and it will just hang from the RTV long enough to put the skid on? I'd hate to break the seal there. Maybe do it at oil change time for a little more insurance.
