Default Fender Chopping!!!

I'm thinking of trimming my fenders. Do you do it on the jeep or take them off first? Does anyone regret cutting theirs and if so why?

I cut them on the Jeep. I just ran a tape line on the fender where the fender starts to turn down and cut away. On the front I measured about 3 inches up from the front edge and cut across. Then just shaped it the way I want it. Then yanked the rear liners, modified the front liners and trimmed the front fender supports. Pretty easy, it's just time consuming.

I actually cut mine last night in anticipation of installing my 35's today. My 4" Lift goes on Tuesday but I had to make it all work logistically..

It does look funny with the stock tires on but if you are going bigger, it is the way to go.. I am sitting in Discount Tires waiting for my 35's to go on.. ;-)

Here is a link to an awesome video if you're going to do it... I also kept my rear fender well liners, but most just chunk them and paint the inside of the fender well... I can give you the details if you want to keep them, I think it looks better with them..

That is the main video I used when I did mine. I have no regrets with my fenders. My front liners, however, don't look like I want them to, but they are acceptable.

These were taken before I sprayed the fender wells flat black. They look much better after the paint.

The hardest part about doing this is making the first cut. Once you do that, there is no turning back and you will make them look great no matter what. Careful trimming the inner fenders on the front. I cut mine too much and there is a big gap. You can just remove the inner fenders in the back since they aren't needed.

Good luck! You will do fine.
