I wouldn't buy firestone tires if you held a gun to my head.

I had a set of these for my TJ. Great traction and held up to rock abuse very well. The only problem that I have with them is that they are a load rated "E" tire. So be prepared for a very harsh ride even when aired down. I will never own another "E" rated tire, lol

I am still undecided between the

Cooper STT 295 75 17

or

BFG KM2 285 70 17

or

Firestone Destination MT 285 70 17

is your feeling towards the Firestones because of the past ford oem failures?
or
the union / non union BS?
or you just know this tire sucks from experience?
or some other reason?

take out that chaw for a minute and tell me ! ! !

There will always be misinformed haters out there. I would however like to see some informed opinions if anyone has experience with the harshness of the ride

I don't have these yet but NOT ALL the sizes are load range "E".

The load range "C" and "D" tires should ride OK.

And as you also requested I would like to hear more INFORMED opinions of people with EXPERIENCE who have ran this tire.

Once again; I want to stress that I've ran these tires HARD for 13,000 miles on highway and off-road with no problem.

It's very easy to figure out; Google probably could have told you.

Anyway, it's 315/70/17. That's a 34.4" by miata.net's calculator. It's also the one of the few 17" sizes in which Firestone offers the M/T.

There are a few variants of the 35in. family. Check them out on TireRack and if you are unsure of the conversion always google it out. [I]tire size converter[I] always does the trick.

Ok, we just got a TON of snow and a lot of really nasty ice here and I can't tell you how impressed I am with these tires. I ran BFGs on my TJ and, in my opinion, they wouldn't cast a shadow on these Firestones. I was a Firestone doubter before but no more.

I'll admit, the ride is harsher but it's not all that bad -- It's a Jeep for Christ's sake!
