Fixing the Rake
I want to install a spacer to fix my rake, probably 3/4". Do I need to change coils, get coil extensions or bump stop extensions with that small of a coil spacer? This guy who works at my local 4X4 shop said no, but I don't trust him because he is the same jack dick that said they didn't make seat covers for the JK yet. All of the suspension thus far is stock Rubicon.
No changes are necessary. I installed 3/4" spacers on my stock Rubicon and I left them in when I installed my Full-Traction 3" Ultimate lift. When you install the spacers you pull the springs and then the spring isolator on the top of the bumper stop. Place the spacer on the bumper stop column and then the factory spring isolator and reinstall the spring.
Ok thanks for validating. I'm fairly mechanically inclined but I am thinking about paying them to do it to save me the hassle. They want to charge me $150 in labor but I think I can work them for $100. When I think about the time I would have to spend to do it, seems like it would be worth it. What are your thoughts? Did you do it yourself? How long did it take?
This is easy to do yourself, save the $100. If you were closer to me I would help you do it for free. I can add a spacer in the front in prolly 30 minutes to an hour at the most.
1. Jack up the front end and put jack stands under the frame.
2. Take the front wheels/tires off and let the suspension droop a bit.
3. Disconnect the bottoms only of the front shocks, sway bar from both sides, and axle side track bar bolt, then let axle droop the rest of the way.
4. The springs should literally fall out. Remove springs.
5. Put spacer in on top of springs while replacing the springs.
6. Jack the axle up a bit.
7. Reconnect track bar bolt, both ends of the sway bar, and shocks.
8. Put wheels/tires back on.
9. Remove jack stands and lower the jeep to the ground.
10. Torque everything down, track bar down to 125 ft lbs.
Enjoy the new stance! This may sound like a lot but it is really not that much to do. If a shop is going to charge you $150 they are absolutely ripping you off. An experienced installer should be able to complete this install in about 30 minutes, thats an expensive 30 minutes!

Even though I have gone through my RC spring boost instruction numerous times (2.5" boost), I do not see anything about pulling the Trac bar bolt. Just shocks and sway bars. This was true of their BB also.

Now I'm thinking about going with a 3" Teraflex lift. Two questions...
1.) Does this eliminate the need to add spacers for the rake? Same 4X4 guy told me that the lift itself would take care of the rake.
2.) Do you think the Jeep will look silly with a 3" suspension lift and stock Rubicon tires? Pics welcomed

If you wanna see pics. I did before and after with 1in teraflex front spacer. Took me 30mins and only cost me about 45-50 dollars.

I think 1in is perfect for a level ride. The teraflex 2.5 budget boost is next for me. My long wheel base needs a little more break over angle. 35's will come with that upgrade too. Maybe a 1in body for max clearance.
