Front bumpers, air bag compatible??
All bumpers are air bag compatible, it is just that some do not incorporate the crush cans. All that the crush cans are there for though is to absorb a low speed impact that is directly in line with the frame. The likeley hood of this happening is very small, and now that there is a big steel bumper the force is spread out enough that I don't worry. There is nothing in the bumper that in any way shape or form affects the air bags.
Have any of you guys seen up close the crush cans?? If you have you wouldn't compare them to paper thin beer cans. Just like some else said here on this thread it to absorb SLOW front impacts from activating the airbags and I'm sure that they do just that.
Now, having that said I have yet to hear about anyone who has activated their airbags after a slow impact
with aftermarket bumpers.
IMO, I rather not take my chances.

the air bags wont go off until the frame is crunched (it has the crush zone on the frame), a slow impact wont set them off anyhow..
I had my Purejeep bumper on the front and the airbags didnt go off at a slow impact,
hell they didnt go off on the second crash the totalled the Jeep.
yup, took mine off two years ago when i swapped bumpers. No, they are not aluminum thin, but seriously doubt they are going to do squat to stop a full sized vehicle.
If anything my airbags would go off faster without them installed by what everyone says, and that would be a bad thing... how?
either way, i understand your point, safety is safety, but i dont believe i compromised mine or my families one bit.

I dont buy that,

If you totaled your jeep and the airbags didn't go off...do you know why? Where they defective? There could be many reasons why. Of course you are not the only one who has experience with frontal impacts with aftermarket bumpers and the airbags didn't go off.
So again, maybe the crush cans aren't needed. Who knows?
I respect your POV, but I feel better with the crush cans.

They serve to absorb some of the impact in a low speed collision before the jeep itself does.
