No thread on axles would be complete without this statement.

The axles are nearly bulletproof, they are direct bolt on replacements but the pair including the crate, weighed 730 pounds!

I had a local off-road shop do the install... It took 3 1/2 days for 2 professional mechanics

remove the old axles and drive shafts,
install new axle assemblies
install ARB compressor & the switches
then run the ARB air lines from under the hood to both axle assemblies.
then remove bumper and install stubby one
mount, balance and install MTR/K's 37/12.5/17

Goto YouTube I have a time lapse of everything from start to finish compressed in a timeline that's compressed to 9 minutes...just search for Matthew de Jongh

600? Hell no. My diesel generator is 598lbs empty and its a decent size 7000watt gen set. I could easily see 2 axles being 700+lbs. if one axle was 600lbs i wouldnt be putting it under my jk

yes sir, to each his own. front is about 480~ plus the truss and sleeves that will be in it and thicker shafts. Ballparking it around 600 each. Rear may be more like 450-500 after i ditch the drum brakes.

correct. will be like 3/4 wall axle tube depending of the availability of tube i have at work here. dont want to redo this to much... and the truss in the rear will have the double triangulated links on top. fronts probably overkill also, but while its all out im doing it in advance. So down the road i dont have "as many" regrets or things i wish i would have done.

Maertz, my vote is you abandon the 60 in the rear and just jump to a Rockwell F106. You'll wheel worry free!

Yes. I was worried about only doing my overhaul 3/4 of the way, like my plan B was pro rock d44 up front and just replace axles in rear...

Instead I did plan F... F'it I'm only doing this once so get it done right.

They say if you go with the best solution vs a good solution, you only cry once ...

But if you just do good enough you cry twice because you have to spend much more when it's all over.
