Front Driveshaft Install Question

It drove fine yesterday without the shaft in it and only the two yoke installed. Coast uses the inch-pounds method of setting up the front diff yoke and I just used the 160 ft lbs torque since I don't have a torque wrench capable of that kind of measurement. Bill felt there was a lot of debate over that 160 ft lbs number but to be sure, just drive it for a couple of days without the front shaft and see if that front yoke is heating up too much (i.e. friction and too much torque). As long as the yoke has no play in it (on the front diff) and it's not getting incredible hot, the theory is that you're in the ballpark on the proper amount of load on that front diff pinion nut.

I'll probably drive it through the weekend without the shaft (I haven't had a front shaft on there for a month anyway), checking regularly the heat of the front yoke and diff, then install it next week.
