Front end makes 'honking' sound on bumps off-road
I'm wondering if the shock is blown out. It's very subtle but I can almost feel a slight vibration clunk in the steering wheel when the "honking noise" happens and it's only on the driver side.
If I go to a parking lot with speed bumps, and I take the passenger side over the speed bumps I don't here the clunk honking noise.

Well, I don't know what's going on? The other day I had be shocks installed. I drove over a little dip in the road and I thought I heard the honk. I have driven over many familiar bumps and I don't hear the honk anymore. I have even tried driving over bumps-any bumps and nothing. So the new shocks might have helped?

$tealership could not locate issue and made it sound like I was crazy. I was present while JK on the lift and we could not replicate the sound. They questioned my PSC flares and other mods. Noise comes and goes and will likely be back later this winter. Keep the suggestions coming now that we are seeing others with the same issue.
Has anyone played around near gear shift or 4x4 gear knob area? My old TJ used to make a clicking sound and solved it with some sponge & tape.

I hit the zirk fitting on my JKS Quick disconnects, and it seems to have dampened it. But I'm not convinced that was the problem. Like the above poster said, sometimes funny sounds come and go. I know to well about go to the dealership to get something fixed and the jeep starts behaving.
Are there any other zirk fittings that need attention? There are none for my AEV lift that i can see.

Well, the sound creeped up again. I went over a big bump and the sound returned. Very slightly but it's there. I think the new shocks have helped cause the noise isn't happening as much but still. Do you think it could be the control arms???

I have a similar noise but it is only when I back out of my driveway which has a pretty steep curb drop and the driver side tire "falls" first thus making a slight vibration or what you are calling honking noise. Was never really sure what it was and it only seems to happen in that particular scenario so I never paid much attention. This is on my 12' JKU
Silly question, anyone who suffers from this annoying sound, is it possible it's the lining inside the wheel-well?

I noticed some wear and tear in areas around that plastic and just maybe it might be this? Any feedback would be great. Also has anyone taken all of that stuff out? Any regrets? Anyone take it out and still have the infamous honk sound still? Thanks again for your insight!

I know it's been a long time since the last post but I have a question, and after this in done. Lol. I will chalk it up as its a jeep and it makes noises. What about the steering stabilizer? It only makes this sound if the front is going over a steep sudden bump and it when I am steering over a steep driveway apron. Thinking maybe or possibly the steering stabilizer. Just a thought. Thanks again and Merry Christmas!
