I checked with Northridge last week about this same topic. I was told that if I switched front springs, I MUST also switch shocks. Using stock front shocks with upgraded front springs was not a viable option. I have somewhat come to the conclusion that I am going to leave the front sage issue alone for now. Especially since I don't know for sure if I will be doing an after-market rear bumper. This would probably help to balance some of the rake out if I add an after-market rear bumper.

 

Thats a good point. I have a 2" BB so I am thinking I will not have to replace the shocks as they were upgraded along with the initial lift.

Could be wrong....and I will check when I order the springs. Any thoughts on that?

I was also going to leave the 2" BB in the rear and only upgrade the front at this time - if I get the rear bumper I can upgrade the rear to the new coil springs too.

Just running low on funds right now. I have lost about 1.5" due to sag with the addition of 180 pounds (winch and stubby).

 

agreed. i have these coils and they give you more lift than u expect. very good lift.

 

was the ride quality good with the teraflex coils!

Teraflex has front and rear coil sets for around $200 on their website. I have a question about the front end sag as well. I see alot of people saying that you should add more spacers to take out the sag, but is that safe? Spacers on spacers? If you have a 2.5 Tera BB and are sagging, and you took out the spacers and added the 2.5 springs, wouldn't you still sag because of the extra weight? I don't know, I am getting my 2.5 TF BB on tomorrow and installing the Rugged Ridge Bumper next week, and will probably have to tackle these issues as well.

 

I have the teraflex 2.5"coil lift and a heavy bumper/winch. The lift leveled my jeep without the use of any spacers. I liked the kit because it came with the brake line extensions, rear trackbar bracket, and rear sway links. Also Joe with teraflex is great to talk to.

I had the TF 2.5"BB and added the XHD stubby and the 9.5ti. I did some searches and made some calls. I ended up going w/ the TF 2.5" front coil springs to eliminate the sag. I did ask TF about putting on a spacer on top of the existing spacer and they sugested the springs. The spacers from the 2.5" stay installed you just swap out your springs in front.

 

The only way to fix the issue is with a new spring. If you want to continue to use the budget boost, then a TJ front spring will give you an extra inch, otherwise you can run a Tera or OME spring and change the shocks.

 

I'm thinking you'll still have some front end sag with just the front 2.5" springs given that you back is still up 2.5" with the spacers. Yes the fronts springs will give you a bit more than 3" less the sag from the weight of your bumper winch so you may end up where you are right now. The rear TF coils (had you gotten them too) only lift the rear 2" with this kit which helps level the Jeep. You may end up wanting a 1" spacer on top of your new front coils to get it where you want it if you just get the front 2.5" coils. Joe...thoughts?

FWIW - Teraflex used to sell an optional HD Budget Boost that would simple use a 3" coil in the front with the 2.5" spacer in the back to compensate for added weight in the front.
