I guess if you lived in a cold climate the would be pretty much necessary. Frost/ice/snow on soft windows would suck.

Why doesnt Jeep just design the damn half doors with full glass, and make the upper door frame part of the soft top like every other convertible on the planet????

Then everyone would be happy.

I have NEVER understood why they dont do that. I cant think of one single reason why it wouldnt work.

I may be mistaken, but looking at the geometry of the half doors, I don't think that the amount of glass needed would fit retracted inside the doors. It looks to me like the half doors sit too low. You could make them higher, but then what's the point of the half doors?

So change the design.

take the frame off the top of the full doors. It isnt uncomfortable to sit in it with your arm on the window sill, so driving it is fine, granted some of the visability would be lost with a slightly higher door but so? I have full doors so what would the difference be? None.

In my opinion the convenience of the full glass in a half door far outweighs the minimal visibility that would be lost. Everyone i wheel with that wants that visibility just pulls the doors off wether they are half doors or not anyhow.

i know it is tomAto tomOto but i think there is a happy medium there.

I want the full glass for winter driving/scraper ability, but i would love to have halfdoors in the summer. I just think the market would warrant it. I may well be wrong, but usually when i say it to people they go...

wha? huh... yeah, why dont they do that?

I think HC you could do the inserts like Bestop makes for the older Wranglers (sliders). I wondered the same thing about the top myself, but I would guess the cost might be a reason.

Actually no, but i dont see why that couldnt work either, and I have heard that approach as well, i'm all for either one. Freinds & and I have had alot of chats with others about this over the years, the majority tend to agree that it could be done, with compromises, without to much trouble. Most say they would prefer it. there are a few sticklers on both sides though too.

anyways, sorry. I didnt mean to hijack this.

I think full soft doors would be great too!

Sounds like to me someone needs to apply at DC for future design efforts.

I agree, I want to see full soft doors. That is why I subscribed to this thread
