I can think of one. To be a convertible door, it would need to be frameless, or it wouldn't be a half door. With offroading, the window would rattle an absolute ton. Plus, all the weatherstripping to seal the window would have to be part of the door surrounds, so you would have to take that off as well I suppose. Just more parts/pieces to mess up or lose. Plus, I'm sure it would be fairly complicated.
It would be a huge piece of glass if you took the normal half door bottom and just put glass up to the roof as well.

I think I saw somewhere that there is a window piece for the HighRock Element doors http://www.quadratec.com/products/11146_300_07.htm

I couldn't find anything about the window enclosure on Quadratec though.

Pillarless windows!

I agree. It would be like having Half doors but better.

That'd just be for a set of lower half doors. If they even do accept uppers, it'd be up to you to supply those.

Still no word on the Bestop 2 piece doors I take it? Guess it looks like they'll be pushing the Element doors, but they really don't seem to fit the bill for me. Even if I'd find a set of uppers and add the lower panel to get a 'complete' door, it still isn't something that I can take off and toss in the back under the duster cover like I could a soft door. Not that it looks like I'll be using a duster since it also seems that to install it, you need to remove the soft top and bow assembly from the JK .

Both those issues kinda shoot my whole driving with the top up and soft doors on in the early am, folding back the roof and removing the doors upon arrival, then tucking everything under the cover of a duster before hitting the trail. Dunno, what other options there are at the moment.

Default full soft doors

Hey Folks,

I wrote Bestop and asked about how they were coming with their full soft (two piece) doors for the JK. They said that they were working it right now and were in the design stage. Here is the key. They said that it was part of the full soft top design for an aftermarket option on the new model. Their old soft doors fit pretty well with the TJ hard top (radius of the door surround met and sealed pretty well with the bestop doors). When I asked if the new doors were going to work with the freedom top, they basically said they didn't know and would have to try it out when they were finished.

I did exactly this with my old TJ. I would run soft doors in the summer--just rip them off and toss in the back during nice weather. Then, when fall came, I'd put the full doors back on. With the freedom top (or soft if thats the option your running) you can easily pull the doors and flip the top back and be fairly open air in no time at all. So, I'm waiting to see what Bestop comes up with and really hope that the full door will mate well with the much more angular door surround on the JK.

Hope this helps as to the original thread question.

Nice excellent initiative, man. Now I guess its only up to Bestop to speed up their design process... summer is almost half-way through!

Bestop always claimed (albeit halfheartedly) that the superdoors would only work with the supertop, and not the facotry soft top. I guess they were trying to get you to upgrade. They always seemed to work fine, though, and now that the soft top is made by Bestop, it should work as well.
