Default Gears

I have a 2011 jk 6 speed and just got a 2.5" teraflex lift with 17" pro comp rims and 35" nittos should I upgrade the gears in my jeep? If so what should I go with?

depends on what gears you have now and, if you feel the need to regear. if you have 3.73's, you might feel that your jeep runs acceptably with your 6-speed. just make sure to recalibrate your speedo with an aev procal and you should be good to go. if you have 3.21's, i'd be willing to be you'll want to regear. 4.88's will bring you back to about stock performance on a 6-speed and, if you're looking for a bit more power, 5.13's will do the trick for you. just know that at highway speeds, your rpm's will be higher with them as well.

Your Jeep will drive fine as is. If you think it's not, then you can downshift (with a manual it's especially easy), or if you have money to burn, regear.

I don't get how people say if u have a manual then you'll be fine. Bc I have 321 gears and 33's and can barely turn em. No way I could run 35's. I'd burn my clutch or transmission or something. I'm going 513 and 37's asap

I got some Yukon 4.88's that I am fixin to install in my 2011 6 speed with Zip lockers. 3.73's IMO are useless with that big a tire. 4.10's or higher would be better. I have 33' GY MTR's and with my 3.21's, I can't get out of my own way.

I have 3.21's in my 11 with a 6spd running 35's trail grapplers an it's livable but you will only be running 1-4 never 6th sometimes you'll get it into 5th going DOWNHILL! Now as far as burning your clutch an killing your tranny as someone stated up above if you don't know how to drive a stick then you will but all in all it not that bad you just have to know where sweet spot is in the gear range an just know how to use the standard as it was ment to be an you'll be fine

But I do have a set of 4.56 coming next week but that after have driven over a year with the set up I have now.. With the 3.21 it a dog in 4wd an if offroad where you need 4wd you will have to run low cause you just won't go

You must be in the wrong gear, lugging the engine, and causing excessive stress on your engine/tranny. I use 3rd gear (3.73 diff gears, auto) on highway and my gear ratio comes out to be as if I was in OD with 5.38 gears (3.73*1 = 5.38*0.69). I'm also on 35's. I have no problems turning them. Swapping for 5.13 gears will be actually worse from performance perspective, because I'll be running lower rpm. Now for 1st gear when taking off, auto's transmission gear ratio is 2.84. Manual's is 4.46. After diff gears multiplication auto comes out at 10.6 (3.73 diff gears), and manual comes out at 14.3 (3.21 diff gears). So you're still way ahead of auto!!! I'd have to regear to 5.13 just to arrive to your stock 1st gear gearing. There is really nothing to complain about

Negative. My 513 Yukon gears and 37's are bout to bolt on. Problem solved. Running your jeep as a four speed manual on 35's may work for u. But it's not for everyone. For others it leaves something to be desired
