Hey WOL. Not to hyjack, is this true for the D44 front also? I am planning on going to 33's soon. Thanks

unfortunately, yes. the JK rubicon 44 is for the most part, a dana 30 with a 44 differential and axle shafts.

If you have the Dana 30 in front, it will bend going to the grocery store with 35's. If its a Dana 44 your good for light wheeling as is. Hope that helps....

I heard that I need C Gussets if I do this.

Can anyone tell me if this is true and why?

FYI- I don't plan to wheel this thing a ton. Perhaps 2-3 times a year.

Thanks!

actually, there is no dana 35 front, only dana 30 and the dana 44 has the exact same c's and even tubes as a dana 30. it will bend just the same.

the Dana 30 and 44 have the same ends and tubes, both are just as likely to bend.

how long would you say I have before bending can occour? I got my 35s about 2 months ago and have not done the C gusset mod yet. I have not done any off roading either.

Default D30

no problems yet 35's and D30....although they only measure about 33.75 (BFG MT's)I think many more folks run them without anything especially if it's mostly a daily driver.

you'll definitely want the AEV Procal too.......shifts alot better(smoother) and turns off the TPMS light too

I have been thinking of this insurance. I drive mine as a daily driver but when hitting some pavement seams with the 35's, I could see it as being a decent amount of stress.
I have welding experience and have wondered is the process of welding the gussets on does not introduce some of it's own weaknesses.
Anyone have input/experience?

I considered it cheap insurance and I had to pay someone to weld them for me. Sounds like you are good to go.
