Default Help!!!

Im in the middle of replacing my rear drive shaft and i cant get the flanges on the axle end to separate. The transfer case end came off with a little pulling (thats what she said). I've been hitting the flange with a rubber mallet and still no luck. Anyone have any tips or tricks???
Thanks in advance

-Joe

Use a propane torch to heat it up. Should come off then.

I was able to remove it by inserting a large hex wrench into an unthreaded hole on the differential side of the flange. I then used a pry bar to push between the diff housing and the hex key. By doing that i was able to push the DS out of the flange.

you should be able to use just a regular hammer... the metal on metal contact will not damage the flange and the vibration will knock it loose

Put a chisel in between the flanges and strike the chisel with a heavy hammer (2 or 3 lb). Rotate 180˚ and strike again if needed.

Ha ha, so I guess you PAY someone else to hit it with a hammer...
after you drop it off at a PRO SHOP and then leave.

Alright guys, with your advice i was able to get the drive shaft out. Had to use a hand winch and a hammer.

Now im having an issue with the rear pinion nut. What size is it???? does anyone know? I read a write-up on the forum that said 35mm, so i went out and got one, but it seems to be way to big.
