HELP Damage - Pics inside
Hey thanks, I think I got most of it now. Only hard part I'm having is visualizing what it looked like stock. Once I take that big black extension bracket off, was there a stock one there (Because if so I no longer have it) that needs to take its place. Or when I remove it is that all that needs to be done, no stock parts to fit back ?
And I'm still trying to figure out exactly what this part is if I can use it to replace the broken area, or is this simply another extension bracket like the big black piece I'm ditching?

Because the part that broke, I am hesitant to weld back because it does look seriously fatigued in some areas....

Wish i knew how!!
Trying to help, not hijack!!!
Someone volunteer please, !!!!!!!
and set up a Axel damage poll,
type axel, ( D30, D35, D44)
front or rear
Brackets torn (shocks, track bar, stabilizer, etc)
Axel snapped.
Stock or lifted
We need a more direct listing of info on troubeled parts,
versus lots of searching thru the webs.
the response would eliminate the question if this a sporadic issue or a valid problem
I think it is an valid problem and am concerned.
Someone helps us out.
Thanks TV.

The First two pictures on this page are part of a different writeup over on the main site, but they should give you a pretty good idea how it looked originally. http://project-jk.com/wp-gallery2.ph...826&g2_page=14

Once again thanks for the help, especially Happy. My last question still stands, when i ditch that extention bracket is there a stock peice that needs to replace it ?
After lifting the vehicle, the track bar is now too short causing a shift in the axle to the passenger side of the vehicle. The extension piece relocates the hole to make up for the need for a longer bar. Unfortunately it also adds leverage to an already weak joint, hence the breakage. By dumping the bracket and getting an adjustable length track bar, there is no longer a need to relocate the hole. If you decide to keep the bracket you need to add Skyjacker's fix for the problem which is a big plate of metal that attaches to the bracket and bolts to the top few bolts on the differential. Either way will work for you, especially if Skyjacker gives you the reinforcement. But if you have to pay for it, you might as well by an adj track bar. Last time I looked, the Full Traction one was $189-$199. That alternative will be slightly more than buying the bracket though.
I think the plate looks a little hokey too, but some may think it looks cool. You decide.
Here is one of the first cases we saw. https://www.jk-forum.com/forums/modified-jk-tech-2/something-consider-when-lifting-your-jk-5412/

Here is another one fixed and with the added bracket.

Hope that helps make your decision!

Your quite welcome.

No, there is no stock piece to replace it. It isnt necesarry in stock configuration.
Rubimon explained the extension situation far better than I could have.
I also agree with him, both options will work for you, I personally dont like the bracket it does look hokey, but if they sent it to me free, I would likely run it as a bandaid until i got the funds for an adjustable track bar. In my personnal opinion, the brackets are just that, a budget minded bandaid. I think the correct way is to get the adjustable bar, but that is more expensive, so I understand the interim need for that peice.
As a side note, it would to an extent interfere with removing the diff cover for oil changes/gear inspection, and i have no clue if it would be compatable with aftermarket diff covers. I already have enough bolts to fiddle with, i dont want to be loosening up my trackbar/brakets if i need to get in the pumpkin.
Has anyone had a 4in Superlift rear trackbar re-location bracket rip their stock bracket off? My next mod is a rear adj. trackbar , but I'm almost afraid to wheel it till I get one. The superlift bracket looks almost the same as the skyjacker, maybe a tad shorter.
So, the bottom line is that no on markets a "complete" lift...is this what I'm hearing? It appears that adjustable track bars/relocation brackets are and should be part of the package, but are not...and since "they" are not, then why aren't they part of the package?
The track bar centers the axle under the Jeep. On lower lifts of about 2.5" and under it isn't (in theory or some opinions) necessary to add it for proper operation of the suspension.
It is more an aesthetic issue to keep both tires sticking out equally on opposite sides of the Jeep and possibly keeping the tires from bumping the tub or suspension components on one side during extreme articulation.
Therefor, It isn't really a function issue on lower lifts.
BUDGET boosts are just that, low cost ways to lift the Jeep.
Those, or lower priced lifts achieve part of the lower cost by not including parts that aren't really necessary, or using other means to get the price down. To lower the cost, Mfg.'s include band aids: track bar brackets in place of an adjustable bars, Shock extensions in place of proper length shocks, delete the quick discos/extended discos altogether, etc. Those items can be purchased and added later if you so chose to spread the cost out, which many people do.
Ideally they are nice, but they simply up the price. Some people may prefer to add them now versus later but in theory the Jeep will be just fine without them until they do. (Personally, I added the track bars and shocks and quick discos when i put on my budget boost as a matter of convenience. Why do it twice if i could afford to do it all at once? and I also think Jeeps look goofy as all hell with the axles off centered, but that is just my personal opinion, not a mechanical problem)
Like PiginaJeep said, If you want a more complete kit, there are Tons of them available, but they come at a higher cost which generally sends people running in the opposite direction.
