Default Hotheadliners

What kind do you have installed in your jeep. Velco or permanent. And what do you think about them and have they helped with the heat.

I have the hothead headliner. It uses very strong Velcro. He changed the amount of Velcro on the back piece so it sticks great. You can take it off if you want but boy is it up there! Really makes a difference. I'd highly recommend them. It helps with sound and heat. I live in the desert where it gets 110 degrees.

Default Hothead Headliners: The test results are in.

Hi Guys,
we finally got around to shooting some video of a heat test that shows how effective our headliners are as an insulation against heat, and how good our new 3M adhesive holds up in high heat. We posted links on our web site: www.hotheadheadliners.com or you can just click here to go directly to the YouTube Video.
We are pretty satisfied with the results but let us know what you think.

I have had the hotheads headliners in my Jeep with the supplied velcro for over a year & I highly recommend them.

There is a big difference in sound, both hot & cold temp reduction, very easy to install & they look factory.

Excellent product!

Over a year with mine, velcro install. No problems and really help with the heat and noise. Well worth it.

I have the permanent ones. I bought the headliners the day I bought my JKU. Its been on for 2 weeks now and I think it was money well spent. I decided on the non-velcro because I don't expect to remove them and put them on again. It made the interior look much better and I do feel the difference as far as heat is concerned.

I've been looking at the permanent ones but how is the install compare with the Velcro ones. I don't plan on taking them out but was wondering which one is better as far as sticking.
Thanks for any info

The installation of the headliner panels is exactly the same between the Velcro & 3M tape. As for which stick better, it's definitely the 3M tape. We have been using the Velcro for two years and know that it holds up in the most extreme weather conditions, but the holding power of this 3M tape is crazy. And if you're wondering about how it will hold over time, acrylic adhesives (which both the Velcro & 3M are) increase their bond over time, so after a couple months it probably wont come unstuck from your hardtop nears as easy as it did in our two day test.

Default Real World numbers

Hi Guys,
Someone asked for some Real World numbers. The below pics were taken by a Hothead Headliners customer who lives in Nevada.
First picture:
taken at the rear of the hardtop. Under the headliner panels, where the hardtop is very thin would be hotter that this.
Second picture:
The outside temp: 109
Third picture:
temp taken from the center of a headliner panel (sorry about the blurriness)

So, after sitting in the sun the inside of the headliner panel is just a little more than the actual outside temp. Our headliners will not keep your Jeep from getting hot if it's sitting in the sun on a hot day because of all of the sun's energy that comes through the windows. What the will do is make the inside of your Jeep like any other car. You get in it on a hot day, roll down your windows to get the hot air out as you turn your air on, and then drive around in comfort because your air conditioner doesn't have to overcome the 180 degrees of heat that are radiating down from your hardtop.
