I need a DEFINATIVE answer please!
I only do light wheelen, logging roads and mountain climbing, I am a punk ass though and love the look and respect you get with a lifted jeep! I love the idea of pulling up to some jag off that thinks his FJ is cool, yell at him with my PA and floor it! If you do any wheelen at all just get a 2.5 with shocks and springs and good enough. I bought the T F 2.5 econo and 3/4 spacers today from QT, as well as my black steel wheels and my nitto muds!
And you need to review Canadian laws regarding restricted (short barrel) firearms. Yes Canada is full of shitheads just like America, but our laws and general love of life kind of prevent us from shooting at other people for honking the horn and being dicks.
Now for some actual content for this thread:
You DO NOT need a long arm lift if you're staying under 4". Don't bother, you aren't going to get any more flex, and the ride quality between a 4" short arm lift and a 4" long arm lift is minimal. These are JKs, not TJs.
I went with the Rough Country 3.25" lift. It's a 2.5" spring lift, plus .75" spacer lift. Comes with shocks (the Performance 2.2 shocks it comes with ride nicer than factory). Much nicer than the generic white body shocks you get with most of the kits (including the pricey ones) out there. Also comes with a rear track arm drop bracket. The kit can be installed easily with hand tools. If you're going to run spacers on your stock wheels, you can probably run the 35's without touching the fenders. The only hickup might be the pinch seem in the back (front bottom of the rear wheel wells). If you have the rubicon, remove the rock rails, cut 2" off, hammer the pinch seem inward or cut it off with a grinder, reinstall the rock rails. If you don't have the rails, get the hammer or grinder out and clearance it. I did not have to clearance me pinch seem. It depends on your tire, and doesn't have much to do with the lift. When you flex the rear, the tire will travel up and get close to the seem. If it's a true 35, you might rub slightly, if it's a smaller 35 like most of them, you should be ok.
My father runs 3.5" backspace wheels and rubs on the outer lip of the fenders at full flex. no rubbing on the inside. I run a larger tire, with a 4" backspace, and get no rub whatsoever, however I did a fender trim, so pretend I have flat fenders.

As you can see, tons of room. I am switching up to 37's soon, and trimming the pinch seem. With a fender trim, the RC 3,25" lift, and doing the pinch seem you can choose whatever tire you like within reason.
