About to take the plunge and trim my pinch seams in anticipation of a wheeling trip. My plan is to cut the rear pinch seams and fill the gap with JB Weld before finishing it off with some Duplicolor rattle can bed liner to seal it up. Would using the JB Weld be a good idea or should I go in another direction?

Hey I came across your thread and I was in the exact same position 2 weeks ago. I went with a marine sealant something called 3M 5200 or something like that. I figure if it is good for boats on salty water, it's good for the jeep on salty winter roads. I then used rustoleum to match my car paint after it cured. I bought it home depot hope this helps

I'd suggest just going with a silicon sealant, it will make that area watertight as well as coat the exposed edges to fight corrosion. You can find the silicon in black also so it will not standout or look unsightly.

You could also get a set of adjustable control arms to recenter your rear axle in the wheelwell and not trim them at all.

I've used JB weld plenty and it works like a champ. That stuff holds tractors together.

I used the JB weld putty. The two sticks you mash together, and it works great

that's what I did... also cut my rubi rails by 1.5" and primed and painted the ends.
