I'm sorry. I'm all for more power but we need to be honest here. 50 more HP is what, like a 35% gain out of the engine? That's pretty much impossible with just headers. I wish it were true, believe me, but those numbers are just unrealistic. Even with their dyno results, every dyno is different and gives different numbers. A guy in my Ducati forum saw a 30 HP increase just by changing shops.

I installed the JBA headers about a year ago and had the same problem

Am thinking about getting the RIPP SC now

Some people will never believe it no matter what you say or what data you show them. I agree, it is huge, it's not unrealistic, and the same dyno was used before and after, so that's not why the numbers are that significant.

Also, if anyone has ever ridden in a vehicle that the catalytic converter has gone out, they know that the inhibition of exhaust can cause an engine to lose so much power that it won't even pull it's own weight.

Are the JBA headers shorty or long tube? I have a set of JBA Stainless Steel short headers on my 300C Hemi which must get more heat pumping than the 3.8 and I have not had an issue with them.

A set of long tube headers alone and all the pixie dust on Staten Island isn't going to make 50hp on the JKs 3.8L engine. Noticeable power, increased torque, sure I buy it, but it's not going to be 50 horsepower.

I have been critical of other RIPP dyno results and now this one as well. I just don't buy it although I truly believe they make good products. I also didn't bite on aFe's claims of making 50 additional ft lbs of torque with a throttle body spacer, CAI and an exhaust. It's just not going to happen and overstating what these products can do isn't doing anyone any favors.

Sorry the threads been highjacked.... Sounds like the JBA headers may have a heat issue...

The RIPP wesbites claims a 25 hp and 35 ft/lb at the rear wheels... header & catalytic converters...

http://www.rippmods.com/Jeep_Wrangle...jk38-lthdr.htm

It comes for about a $1600 price tag... I'm not saying.... I'm just saying... It's what they put on the web....

So someone get them, do before and after dynos and if not even close....go after them for deceptive trade practices. Here in TX it is treble damages.

BUT, if they prove up, then you have to drive your JK with a sticker that says "I was wrong, Ripp was right" for a year.

If ripp gives me the headers I'll pay to have them installed and pay for the dyno and will post up.

Back to on topic

Jethot works very well. All of us old grand cherokee guys did it. Thorley headers with jethot coating for the ZJ.
