JK belly protection
Boy that looks familiar! Thats about what mine looks like. If you're going to push the limits of a 4dr the stocker just isn't enough. The good thing is that it is about as low as weight can be (other than axles). I guess it's the price we pay for the relativly large fuel tank - and it's a price I'm willing to pay.
ummm, for the record, for those of you who have never seen what the actual fuel cell looks like outside of the factory skid, that whole front section of from the transmission crossmember back, the part that gets beat to all hell on every jk.... it's just empty space in there. the actual tank steps up at that point giving an easy 4" of clearance and any hits made to this part of the skid WILL NOT effect anything. of course, the rest of the skid is reinforced with structural ribs and as the photos above show, there is a very little in the way of metal deformation beyond this initial point. just thought i'd throw that out there.
This post came up at just the right time. I was going to pull the stock skid for the gas tank off and just weld a plate onto the bottom of the factory skid. I think it would be cheaper to do now than when it is destroyed. Is this a waste of time? Also is the tank held in place by the skid or are their straps that I can’t see? Thanks
im pretty impressed with the gas tanke skid and im going to do what WOL said im going to see what else it can take. I had a booboo a while back and i thought for sure i was dont. But my skid looks as bad as his. Best part is it only takes 30 bucks to fill up now lol i lost about 2 galoons of space banging mine up but if anythign ill jsut take it down ebat it out and mount it back. the gast tanke is poly whatever you call it so its pretty tough. BUT i will be getting a OIL pan skid. Man i saw a JK spill oil all over some rocks up at crozet and those guys that run that park are asking all JK's to have them now. Other then that and relocating the evap id say your good.

Thanks to everyone’s in put. I now know the right direction to go on my upgrades. I'm going to get the shrockworks sliders and get it off the ground with a suspension lift and tires for now.

yeah, i'm still out of commission with a completely trashed front axle. but, at least it's giving me a chance to upgrade to a dynatrac 60
