Default JK Radiator Fan Replacement (Universal)

Hi All,

I often venture into these forums and have learned a lot from other peoples experiences here, and thought I should share a useful mod I have sourced myself. I know quite a few JK owners back here in Australia that have had the same issues with the Radiator fan playing up on the trails (doesn't take much water/mud to cause issues).

Basically I've found a completely sealed 16" electric fan, that fits almost perfectly into the stock housing of the JK (Stock Radiator fan housing).

any questions - feel free to ask me!

Mojotec.

Hey thats awesome Mojotec, I just read the forum there, I've been working on getting SPALUSA info so that I could get the right setup, nice to see you got one working. Do you know the spal part number or the part number of that one? I can contact SPALUSA engineer I spoke with and get the same one. How long have you been running it ? I've killed 5 motors already

Hey there. I've been told it's a re-badged "SPAL" fan when it's imported here in Australia, I'll try getting specific part numbers for you. I'm sure if you send your guy pictures of my fan that's on my forum post, he'll be able to confirm. It's the Universal 16" Shroud blade Electric Fan.

I've been running mine for about two weeks now, no issues. I'm hoping to take it out in the trails somewhere soon with some water/mud and put it to the test. I highly doubt I'll have any problems, it's completely sealed - and this same fan has been used in other 4x4's that do competition trails with lots of mud and water!

5 motors!?! You mean fan motors?

Yes I think he should he able to tell me what fan it is with the pics, I will try that and it does have the part number on it in the close up

great to hear you've been running it for two weeks without issues, ALL of spal's fans are 100% waterproof, they have a display they run at shows with a the motor under water running all day long.... they told me 80% of their business is with car manufactures, we all know jeep isnt one of them

yes I do mean 5 fan motors see my thread here https://www.jk-forum.com/forums/jk-electrical-lighting-sound-systems-13/fan-motors-who-has-killed-theirs-61335/

Search 16" 12V on SPAL's website, there is only one with that same kind of fat, curved blade
