I installed a K & N CAI about a week ago and it doesn't seem to be that loud. It has increased my MPG alittle (.5 mpg). It feels more responsive, I can now go alittle further up a long hill I travel regularly before it downshifts. I wished I had got the Alum. tube model instead of the plastic.

Well after driving it on the highway is wow! I can hear the engine when I punch it and when I step on the peddle it's a lot more responsive. I haven't figured out the whole gas mileage yet but I'll figure that on another day. The sound it makes is very different from what I was expecting. I hear a slight whistle sound and at certain rpms and then I hear this throaty sound when I need to move. Impressive.

I've been considering one of these for a summer job dollar spender, but I heard there wasn't much of a power increase. I guess thats wrong? I'm not looking for something ridiculous like 50 HP, just a little more top end for the highway. Oh, and what'd that kit set ya back?
