K&N drop in filter vs. CAI
The CAI is going to make a little more noise... it will give minimal gains. I have been debating on getting a CAI for a while now. Guys on here say they dont really help with the power but you get improved throttle response. Hope this helps. Good Luck

I just basically want to know if when I get an exhaust, will it matter whether I have a drop in filter or a CAI
Well I recently purchased a K&N CAI and I don't really feel much of a difference and the throttle response I believe is more about what they hear then what they actually feel. I am wanting to sell my CAI amd just get a drop in so that I don't totally go back to a stock paper filter.

I made a $12 gamble...took out my airaid CAI and replaced it with my stock air box and paper filter, getting about 1/2 to 1 mph better, and actually feel like I'm getting more throttle response. Selling my CAI in the Phx area if anybody body wants to buy it.
I installed a CAI before also buying the exhaust mostly because of an opportunity to get a used one in great conditions.
Also did not notice improvements on power or economy.
However, I noticed the engine became more elastic, that is revved faster. Maybe the throttle response mentioned by other members. Did not notice any big change in noise.
I installed a tune chip and got a major improvement in economy and some power boost.
My next mod will be the exhaust. But did not decide yet which one.

i felt like I got more throttle response from my CAI than I did with my old drop in filter. The CAIs really make the exhaust sound meaner. My girlfriend has a drop in and it works with her stock exhaust. CAIs are suited for rigs that can push the air out just as quick as they can suck it in.
If you do water crossings and/or plan a snorkel in the future, stick with a drop in.

I like this setup cause I can uncover it for daily use and cover it up for te trails. takes 2min.
