If they are that good why stop it?

But if they dropped the 3.0L V6 CRD in the JK id bump my two 3.8L's and get the 3.0L CRD's. We have had CRD's here for years now even the XJ came in a CRD.

The cost of running is just as high as a 3.8L if not higher! The cost of 50 ppm diesel is 30% higher than petrol. yours service costs are twice the price and when the motor hits 50000 miles just sell it if you can as the the repair costs just keep get higher. We hear of repair cost on the motor been 50% of the value the the Jeep at 5 years old. The Jeep even cost 10 to 15% more when you buy it new?

So im just saying its like that hot model, she looks great and you wish you had one! but some where she is giving same guy a heap of C@#P

The 3.8L gets my
True may be for the US.
But here the running cost and service cost of the CRD is lower, petrol is 20% more expensive than diesel. In addition the company pays for my diesel so that was a good reason.
The 2.8 CRD has proven to be reliable and running +120.000 miles without problems. This was not the case for the 2.5 VM and 3.1 VM diesel engines in the XJ Cherokee and WJ.
I agree that the 3.0 CRD is a great engine but hey, why didn't they ship the JK with a 5.7L Hemi instead of the 3.8L? I would have gotten one straight away!

I don't share this point of view. First in Swizterland we get 10 years free service... so this sound not bad. Second I never hear that diesel needed more attention that gas, my brother in law operates a taxi company (and a coach company) all cars he used were clock up to 310 000 miles (and he event resale these cars). I think if you take care of the diesel engine this is no more expensive than a gas one. Also here in EU the majority of cars now run diesel so mechanics know diesel, while in the US no (or almost ?) cars run diesels which may bring cost higher.

nope in Aus we dont have diesel rubi. But we do have diesel sahara. The guys running them are pretty happy especially with the additional torque and turbo it gives a good boost. There have been few issues of diesel blowing smoke on brand new engines and turbo pipes blowing etc etc but there are pros and cons every where.

I drove one my my friends diesel Jk all decked up but after the drive I am glad I have pertrol .

Yes, I agree, there is pros/cons but one thing which is nice with the diesel (no this not the engine sound...) but high torque at low rpm, this was the incentive for me as both gas/diesel are available in CH.
