Lift kit recommendations?
Hey All, newbie here. We are planning on getting a 2010-11 unlimited in the near future (6 mths hopefully) and I am in charge of doing the research. We are planning on running 33 or 35" tires and need to know the minimal lift we will need to have. Our Jeep is going to be my daily driver and thus no extreme off roading will be done - can't afford an Oops! We like the look of the lifted Jeep and will be fine with the addtional ground clearance the lift will give us. So, I am looking for recommendations on which lift kit, minimal height, and any input on where to get the best price on a lift kit. Also, do any of you tow your automatic Jeep behind an RV? Do you need to do anything special? Thanks for the help!
There are a ton of folks on this forum who have purchased and installed the TeraFlex 2.5 coil lift as seen in the link below. It will allow you to run a 35" tire so long as the wheel has proper backspacing. It's a great kit and a great price for what you will get. You will have no problem driving down the freeway, or running a good trail.

TeraFlex is a great company and they always take care of their customers.
This kit is also easy enough to install yourself, check out this video.

I run the AEV 4.5 SC and love it. If you are wanting something not as big but still get 33-35's on your JK I'd try out the 2.5 XT from AEV. Their lifts are a bit more pricey than others but the quality is amazing and you can still retain your stock ride or better.
I think part of this depends on what type of driving you're going to be doing. If you plan on doing light to moderate wheeling, then I think a body lift and a budget boost would be right up your alley. They are cheap, you retain the factory ride, you don't need to worry about changing your drive axles, and you can put on the bigger tire. I am running a Daystar 1" BL and a Teraflex 2.5" BB. I can run a 35" tire as long as the backspacing is less than 4.5" ( yours is 6.25" on stock JRU wheels). However, it does come with drawbacks. I like running some of the more difficult trails, but I can ensure you these lifts will not hold up long, or at all, on the more difficult parts of any trail, thus I will have to use bypasses when they are offered.
If you have a fairly liberal budget, then there are heavy duty lifts out there that most certainly will hold up, but they are definitely more expensive. So it's really a matter of budget versus type of driving to be had.

I have a two door Mountain with a stock suspension. Looking at lifting soon. I'm sure you get tire of stupid questions.....but I just can't help myself.
Are all stock suspensions created equal? (Mine looks higher than some of the other stockers I see)
If they are not created equal what ends up being the true benefit? (gains in inches
..yeah I said that...uumph)
Also..how would I calculate this to truly know what I need?
One more thing..based on height increase of a two door..what other chassis mods would you recommend on say a 3 inch lift?
