What is the primary purpose of the track bar.. I'm learning a lot and trying to get some base knowledge of the key suspension parts.

The track bar is what centers the axle. If you start lifting your suspension without lengthing the track bar your axle will get pulled towards the drivers side offsetting your axle from the center of the chassis like it is supposed to be.

How far would the teraflex 2.5" lift offset the front axle? Enough to do any real damage? Would it cause that much flightiness on the highway? Would you have to re-gear with 35's if you have the tow package?

I have the RK 2.5", not Teraflex, but probably similar: I got 4" in front and 2" in rear. Should be around that number, though I've heard 4" is a lot for the front. Figure you will always get more in front because most lifts are supposed to level out the Jeep and get rid of the factory front rake.

Regarding the re-gear: many run 35's with the 3.73 gears (max tow) and don't feel the need to re-gear. Others do the re-gear. It's not something you HAVE TO do. You can do the wheels and then try it for yourself. If it's fine with you, then save the $1000 you would use on the re-gear and do something else.

I think the most complaints come from people with a lot of hills in their area. If you do mostly highway/flat driving, then probably won't be that big of a deal.

I plan to move to 35's and not re-gear until I'm ready to get a rear locker installed also (already have front).
