Limit straps ???????

a retention clip, from what i understand, clips the spring to the axle and/or frame to keep it from falling out at full flex. i think this will also make the spring stop the down travel instead of the shock. I'm not sure if you put them on both the top and bottom of the springs though.

As far as the rear is concerned I used a hose clamp, one on each in the rear, works great and almost free.

If you have invested 800 bucks in a pair of nice shocks it's more like cheap insurance to make sure you don't have all the weight of your axles when disconnected sitting on your shocks. I am running a triple threat long arm my RK and at full flex with my fox reservoirs shock the spring is very loose. I'm not worried about the spring as much as I am damaging the valving in the shocks. And that's the point in limiting straps. And in someones case on this thread if your not disconnected and your springs are still loose then your shocks are way to long for your suspension setup. IMO. I'm sure some would agree and some would disagree.
I actually have been thinking about looking into the limiting straps for my JK. Not for the springs but for the front drive shaft. At full flex my front DS boot does not hit the exhaust crossover( as long as its only one side flexed out). If I were to come into a situation where my front end was air born (even for a short second) my DS boot would drop on the exhaust crossover and it would rip the boot. Now, the type of wheeling I do this is not a huge concern but I have been thinking about it more lately.

And I can't have them even scuffed up. I think I'm going to find a nice location on the inside of the framerails behind each spring and weld a braket in there and on top of the axle. Flex it out to my desired length and measure what length I want to run and order them.
