I appreciate the OP's ability to take the ribbing. BUT, I gotta say, why a Rubi, if you have no intention of going offroad??? When your done building what you want, do yourself a favor (and your rig), join a local club and give wheelin' a shot. I think you will soil yourself when you realize what that "mall crawler" is REALLY capable of. The boot issue is for automatics only. I am running a 3" Zone lift and 35 X 18 Toyo MT's. I like the set up and it was cheap, but I am getting Currie LCA's to tighten up my steering. I will eventually add an adjustable front track bar and new steering stabilizer, but 35's WILL change the handling considerably, especially MT's. Any one that tells you that you can add an inexpensive lift and 35's AND keep the stock handling is full of it. I believed it, until I installed it and drove it. Good luck!

PS My wife DOES drive a Pilot, if you want to trade

I think that what folks here have failed to point out here is that tire-to-wheel ratio has two sides.

For off-roading, you want LOTS of tire, and not much wheel. This allows good sidewall flex.

For "performance" (read not sloppy) handling on road, you want LOTS of wheel, and not much tire. Sidewall flex is a bad thing when you're cornering at speed.

16's, 17's or 18's wrapped in a set of 35's are all within what most would consider a "normal" range. 15's are more off-road oriented, but you MAY have issues with 15's rubbing on your calipers.

Backspacing, you want between 3.5 and 4.5 inches. Or run wheel spacers.

Personally, I wouldn't put 35 inch tires on 20 inch wheels. Lots of dollars, and a JK isn't going to get much benefit out of the "improved" handling of a pairing that has that low of a tire profile. It won't work all that well off road either - minimal sidewall flex.

Wazza matter? Don't like my flagrant freedom of expression? (or would that be flatulent freedom?) Whatever - I'll keep that part to myself. Just be glad this is a virtual chat!

yes mine is an automatic, I got the Rubicon for a great price with trade in on my 01 TJ, I drive alot of highways miles (kilometers here in Canada), the only other Unlimited on the lot was a silver Sahara but I love the look of the black Rubicon and wish to continue the all black theme but the rims I posted have the wrong backspacing so back to searching I go

thanks for all the advice fellas (and ribbing) keep it coming

ok, got the "mall crawler" figured out, now what does "OP" mean? (sorry, I'm new to all of this, but AM HAVING FUN HERE)

if the P in OP is for poser... then guilty as charged, I just want a nice lookin Jeep and mean no disrespect to all those who off road, maybe some day I might grow a pair and get mine dirty LOL
