Default looking for good mods

im using a 4 door x model. mainly cause i cant affoard a rubi.
this is my first ever jeep so im kind of new to modding
but i do want to mod it out with these.

-winch- alreaddy installed

-6 inch lift- i was looking at full traction, but there a little heafty in the pocket. so something else that i can install myself without welding would be great. id also want it to have full articulation. on top of that what else do i need to have to make it run perfect(like extended driveshafts, slipyolks, etc.....)

-axle lockers-i want manual ones if they exist, i dont want to have to deal with electronics or air lines, i was concidering the aussie lockers but i hear that they can make tight turns on the road hard, so i figured manuals would be a much better way to go. i wanted to have front and rear done

-and some tires. there easy enough to find on my own, and i still have the 16 inch rims in the shed. i know its small but the prices for tires skyrocket more and more for every inch the rim is. also i dont want no 37" tires anyway cause then ill have to look into stronger driveline parts, those i plan to keep stock

wait are you keeping tha stock tyre size? ie 33"
thats gonna look weird with a 6" lift.
also i think the two best 6" lifts are full traction or terraflex. but as you want a non welding install then the full traction would be the way to go. just got to save the dosh.

i believe most if not all 6" lifts will need some minor welding. after all that is one hell of a lift. if your not going with 37's then what? 35's will fit a 2 1/1" lift. with 6" thats just way overkill. you will probably also want gears with your lockers. if your planning to use the stock x wheels you will need wheel spacers as well and you SHOULD probably get wider wheels than those depending on your tire width. there are just to many variables right now. we need more information about what you plan to do with the jeep and so on and so forth

First of all, those mods will cost you more than a Rubicon.
Second, you will have issue with 37's on a Dana 30.

At the first glance, this set up seems to be a little "too much" after my idea.

Is there a specific reason you want a 6" lift?

JK's don't need nearly as much lift as previous versions. As stated several times above, if you are 'not' going to 37's, why even consider 6" of lift? 2-3" and trimmed/flat fenders with 35's and you'll have the look you're going for. If you're worried about stressing the driveline, 2" with 33's.

Well first off i live on the east coast so there arent that many hills that i come across. However there are a lot of fallen trees and rocks. So having 14" of ground clearance is much better than the 8" i have now. I also like havingy options open for the future when i can affoard much bigger tires. But untill i pay off my house id like to be able to drive the trails where tjese obsticles are

I agree! I don't think you fully realize what else your set up will require.

Lift (go Teraflex or Full Traction). But with a lift, at least at 6" you really should look into front/rear driveshafts. There's another $1000.

As for bigger tires. You then need to look into gearing. If you don't know how to do that, there's about another $1500 or so, maybe more for a certified mechanic.

You don't want anything bigger than 35's on a D30 axle. Just too much stress. So you may have look into the D44 upgrade. Although people will tell you its fine. If you're going to wheel, don't stress the axle. With that said... those tires and than wanting lockers will definitely cause stress on the axle, so that's a minimum $2500 just for the axle if it's a Mopar d44.

Lockers, get Detroit or OX. But again, if you don't know how to do the install properly, you're looking at a good grand or more.

Look, look through this thread a bit more. Keep asking questions and do some more research. Last thing you want to do is begin modifying and then realizing you want something else or need some other part to make one work or keep the JK from breaking.

For your browsing enjoyment:

https://www.jk-forum.com/forums/modified-jk-tech-2/modified-tech-faq-answers-questions-every-newbie-has-18617/

Start with the Suspension, Wheel & Tires, Axles Gears and Drivetrain FAQ's. Then search on anything you need more info on, and of course, ask more questions.

Also check this one and see if that's the look you're going for...

So having 14" of ground clearance is much better than the 8" i have now.
Someone please correct me if I'm mistaken here, but a 6" lift won't give you 14" of clearance at the diffs. It will give you 8". Taller tires are what gives you ground clearance, not the lift, so you would need to slap on some 44" tires to get you to 14" at the diffs? (assuming stock 32's. 12" taller tire, cut in half, gives an extra 6" at the diffs?) Though the lift will keep some of the rest of the underside off the logs...
