AND, the Bilsteins provide a very smooth ride. I would skip the shock extensions.
do you have a pic of this setup? sounds like what i'm going for

I think that i may have made up my mind what have you guys heard about the Teraflex 3" lift? Does bilstein have a shock for that lift? it says it comes with a 3" lift kit, front swaybar disconnects, rear swaybar links, rear trackbar bracket, bumpstops and all necessary hardware. do i have to use the swaybar discos because i might want to keep the rubi ones? i figure that i add a front adj trackbar and front control arms shortly after and the set will be good enough for dd and moderate wheeling. whats you input? please answer as much as you can. share pics if you have them! thanks

I suspect you are right but isn't the shocks the only thing limiting downward travel on a stock Jeep?

while were on the subject of answering lift questions.....
I have the old man emu 2inch lift at the moment. with armoring up, and adding a bumper, im tempted to look at a bit more lift. nothing crazy, but I'd love to slap some spacers in there, get it up near the 3-3.5 total lift range. so besides the spacers themselves, which i dont mind going cheap on, what else do you need for such a cheap set up? In my mind the list is; bump stops, retainer clips, adjustabe front lower control arms, adjustable upper control arms, adjustable rear track bar (and I'd assume track bar mount) and brake line extensions front and rear. anything else? do I actually need all that? the ome isnt a cheap kit, and I like how it rides so I wouldnt want to just go out and buy an all new setup. I also want to make sure it can actually be wheeled too

No they don't have the same issue. I have a 2012 JKU Rubicon auto with a 3.5" Rock Krawler X-Factor Mid Arm Suspension. The stock driveshaft clears the auto transmission, but it will hit the exhaust crossover pipe. I bought an aftermarket driveshaft that cleared the exhaust by about a quarter of an inch when the Jeep was on the shop rack and the front axle was at full droop. I didn't feel comfortable with that little bit of clearance, so I also installed the aFe y-pipe to relocate the exhaust crossover. Now if I go to a long arm kit in the future or get some extreme articulation with my current suspension, I won't need to worry about clearance issues with the driveshaft.
