I had a friend with the Hanson steps - those things are dangerous for wives and kids - the cut out step has a jagged edge just waiting to tear up your leg.

I personally liked the RockHard 4X4 slides in smooth finish - wide enough to stand on, bolt down and protect all the way to your frame rails. Top quality product IMHO.

Yeah, I just heard that from another forum member about the Hanson's sharp edge, so I've ruled that out. The RockHard 4x4 is one of my favorites in appearance and function but it is really pricey at over $800 shiiped AND it puts about dozen holes in each side of the body, which basically means I'm married to those side steps.

I just ordered Rampage Retractable Rockers. They have shocks so that they can be used as a step and protection. They should be in next week.

I have the side steps as well and really like the way they protect the paint from the long gravel road I live down. If I was going to go with rock rails, and I hope to someday, from what I've seen, I would go with the TerraFlex as they seem to come out flush with the fenders for gravel protection like the sidesteps do.

Default Decision Made . . .

Thank you all for the advice and previous posts on this thread. Based in large part on what I read here and specifically upon price, aesthetics, practicality as a step, strength, reviews, and body debris/kick up protection, I ordered the Teraflex Sliders. I'm not thrilled about drilling into the body but I just couldn't find a frame mounted step/slider that I really liked that would also keep down mud/snow grime kicked up from the wheels.

I'll let you all know how it goes.

Yeah, I really liked the LoD's for a frame mounted / no body drilling rocker but the holes and open loops don't really provide much in the way of protection for the body from mud, salt grime, and other road debris kicked up by the tires.

I'll post the TF pics when it gets in and I can install them. Unfortunately, I didn't order them from a forum sponsor (I looked), found an unbelievable deal on them with free shipping from Oconee Offroad.
