Hi all! I'm new to the forum but not to Jeeps. I just got my 2011 JK sport. Love it! I was driving a 2004 TJ X b/4 & man there's a whole lot of differences. One thing that bothered me on my Jk was that ugly pinch seam right below the doors. Most nerf bars cover this up but if your like me your not using them. I found a cheap way to cover this if your interested. I bought a roll of 3" grip tape for cement steps at my local hardware store. About $10. Brought it home, cleaned the pinch seam area & applied the tape. You can cover the whole seam from front to rear. IMO it looks great & even has a rough surface that looks pretty cool. So far it has stayed in place even through the automatic carwash. Here's some pics of my MT JK & the pinch seam coverup.
Sorry only my second post, I forgot b/4 pics.

Mine are factory. Do you know how sturdy the factory rock rails are compared to aftermarket.

OEM rock rails (on Rubi) are strong enough for some persons but IMO they are too short and they need to be bigger. You can't really compare aftermarket with OEM since a lot of Rubi owner swap them for some aftermarket.

They wont protect the side of the Jeep too..

Not what I'd call low cost, but here's a vid of the factory rock rails with a weld-on extension kit:

Removed my side steps and put on some of that grip tape. I need a bit more. the roll isnt long enough for a 4 door. It's not as noticeable on a green Jeep lol

We don't have many rocks down here in La. So the $10 tape vs the $500 sliders is a better deal for me.
