Do you think this was an immediate catastrophic failure or that the weld was fatigued and finally gave? The latter would give me cause for more concern. It might suggest that joints not abused as much will eventually fail as well (I.e a matter of time).

This is not the best news when I just placed my order Friday. Even though I'm sure my driving style and setup won't lead to a failure, but I can't be 100% sure either.

I wouldn't worry about it. Lots of stock parts will break before that happens. You just have to put it all in perspective.

I guess I shouldn't be too concerned. I've seen TB's, DS's, shocks, etc all fail so I'm not overly worried about it. I can't wait for the vultures to chime in.

90% of what people are replacing will never go! unless you run 37's on bone stock axles, or work really hard to beat on your Jeep on a regular basis!

I just want to make sure this isn't a complete design flaw. I believe in the MC products and just want to be sure before I replace a perfectly good suspension with a different one.

These have been out for years with 1000's in use. 1 reported failure on a custom fabricated suspension setup completely different than the system they were designed for. You are probably safe from it being a design flaw.

I figured as much. I know I couldn't destroy the stock stuff probably with my use.

They do sell the joints seperate from kits and make no disclaimer about what kind of suspension they should be installed on. They do now state that you should use them on both ends of a control arm and will not warrentee the joint if not used on both ends.
