Default Mud Grapplers

I'm looking into (and definitely getting) a 35" tire. I have everything/money for everything I'll need to accommodate these tires. The last deciding factor is the TRUE tire size. Do the Mud Grapplers run a true 35? What other tires are true 35s? I'd rather not have a 35 that runs 33.5d actual size.

in spite of what some may try to tell you, NO tire measures up to what is listed on the sidewall and really, you shouldn't be concerned with actual tire height as everything you do to your jeep will be based on what is writen on your sidewall, and NOT actual height.

So a 35" tire with 33.5 actual size will still need to be treated as a 35?

Quadratec usually has the actual tire height on their website.

Tires are like shoes, some run larger than others. If you are concerned with the actual diameter or width of a tire check the manufacturer's website. Most list a measured diameter and width when mounted on a particular wheel size.

Don't get too caught up in actual dimensions though. wayoflife is correct, NO tire measures up to 35". Most tire manufactures measure the contour of their tires to get their stated width and diameter not the distance from road to the top of the tire and they don't measure them when mounted on a vehicle either.

If your lift, suspension, wheels, fenders and gears say you can run a 35" tire than any 35x12.50-XX will fit and look great. Once you know what size you want to run focus on selecting a tire that matches your driving conditions and style. Remember, tires wear out and if you use your jeep like most of us here, you'll get to try a different tire before you know it.

yes. when you hear someone say that you need at least 2.5" of lift to clear 35's, they are referring to what is listed on the sidewall and NOT what the actual height of it is.

Thanks for the input guys. Does anyone have any experience on the mud grappler's noise level that "offroad" tires usually have?

make no mistake, it's like a beehive in your head when driving on the highway - they are loud for sure but, they are one badass tire especially on the trail

Do you recommend any good 35" tires that are great on the trail but without all of the noise? Or less noise atleast.

I ran 35x12.50-17's on my old Titan and they are loud. They ride smooth though which is kind of surprising for how aggressive the tread pattern is and they do perform awesome off-road.
