I had installed a Flowmaster #53083. It has a 5"X10" case with one 3" input and two 2.5" outputs. The 3" input had to be modified. The Flowmaster muffler is not as wide as the OEM muffler, this caused the tech to use two simple custom mounts that were connected to the back of the frame. Two 4" Magnaflow stainless tips exit out the rear.

NOW for the UPDATE:
After driving it for a week - I decided it was too loud. It "droned" on the inside of the jeep at mid range RPM's.

After much dialogue with WAJK, I had a 30" glass pack installed under the jeep (between the engine and the Flowmaster muffler).

This did the trick - it pushed the sound behind the car and eliminated the drone. The shop charged me $70 to install the glasspack.

It sounds awesome at idle and not too loud when driving.

Thanks again WAJK!

Yup, I agree, the Cooltech exhaust is currently my only mod and I love it. Much better throttle response and no droning noise. a v6 will never sound as good as a v8 though.

I'm glad it was an easy fix zhuskers. Most folks who install the 80 series Flows are putting them on Camaros/Firebirds and always wanted louder than stock and on the 5.7 V8 they sounded awesome. I know of a few folks who complained of the 80 series being too loud(annoying loud) on them only when it was a V6 in certain years of Camaro/Firebird and I belive the JK's 3.8 causes the same issue. For some that drone will about drive them to drink, while others love it. I personally like a little rumble and love the sound of my Super 40 and there is no annoying drone on mine. If folks want that dual look with Flowmaster but are hesitant of noise then the best bet is go with at least a 50 series up before the axle and run tailpipes out-don't use a 80 Series unless you really like noise. For you Magnaflow lovers they offer a special V6 camaro style muffler that would work nicely that uses a 180 degree u bend for one exit side that probably quiets things down more than the regular camaro muffler http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/shopexd.asp?zone=main&id=7718 A muffler shop could easily do the same thing to a Flowmaster or any other performance muffler that is single in dual out by using a U bend.

One of the forums' vendors, MBRP makes a really nice looking system--have not heard it yet but it looks very high quality. Some of my customers have bought their diesel systems and have had nothing but praise for them.

I have been very happy with my Flowmaster 50 series Delta Flow muffler in the stock location. It tucks up nicely out of sight and has a nice, mellow rumble at idle and is quiet at highway speed. It also improved my throttle response. Best $150.00 I have spent for my Jeep.

I have the MBRP. It's not very loud but it does add a little HP.
