My HEMI Conversion!!
I am creeping up on 30k miles with the 6.1, and still run the stock drive shafts. However, I am not lifted, run stock gearing and tires, and do not rock crawl. Most stuff I run does not even require 4-lo.
I do hammer it on the (back) roads fairly often, and am impressed with just how tough the stock drive train has been. I really did not expect the stock shafts/transfer case to last this long.
I imagine if you increase the pinion angle with a lift, add big tires, and start climbing over stuff replacing the driveshafts would be a good idea even with the 3.8, much less a hemi.
If I ever go 35" tires I think I would prefer 5:13's with an auto.

Well time for an update, all parts are ordered, AEV is no programming the computer for my conversion kit and the kit should be to the garage next week. Some time early next week the engine should be put together with the kit and now we are just awaiting small parts to come in such as the valve body, alternator, power steering pump, transmission adapter, a/c compressor and few other odds and ends. I'll be putting this engine in my JK come mid-December. Oh, I also order an AEV snorkel kit for the hemi as well. Next huge mod will be front and rear dana 60s in Spring 2013

Well we attempted to start the beast today but it wouldn't turn over
. The a couple of the injectors were clogged and the engine still had some of the old fuel in the fuel rail. Geez the injectors was dirty!! Anyway we order new injectors and we'll try to get it to start tomorrow. Overall I'm looking at about $12,000.00 out of pocket for this upgrade. It turned out that the parts needed for this conversion was more than what was expected, waterpump, alternator, powersteering pump, valve body, pulleys all around, new injectors, hoses and fluids and labor. Oh well

Well we finally got this beast to start with some help from AEV engineers, we had to send the AEV computer back because it was the wrong one for my engine( it would appear that I have a non-VVT hemi, go figure!). Once the new computer came in we hooked everything up and she fired right up. Now my gas mileage isn't worth a crap(12 to 13.5 mpg
) but it's a HEMI for Christ sakes...lol. Anyway I'll get with AEV in the morning and see if there is anything I can do about that MPG issue and I'm wondering if my SuperChips Flashpaq will work with this new setup? The procal that came with the hemi kit is very basic with its functions. Also maybe someone on here can help with how to identify a VCT hemi from a VVT hemi?

What is the list of vehicles/models from which a Hemi can be obtained for this conversation?
I thought it would be nice to have them in 1 place where everyone can find them - hopefully others will benefit from this as well.
Thanks all
