Default 33's and a 2.5"

I have the 33's and a 2.5" lift and I think it is the perfect combo. The best gears you would have in an 08' X would be the 3.73 gears, and you might just have the 3.21 gears. From what people say, you might get away with the 35's and the 3.73 gears, but no way with the 3.21's. Either way you will experience a big loss of power and mpg with the 35's. I had the 3.21 gears on my 07 and noticed a big difference when I went to 32's. Can't imagine 35's.
