Thanks everyone I appreciate the advice. So out of curiosity is 95 lbs for a winch considered heavy?

All winches are "heavy", incl. the mounts, shackles, etc. So are 35" tires ... The extra weight is the trade-off, like a HD steel bumper compared to the original plastic crap! A synthetic rope will reduce the weight some, which you can buy later.

From my research most of the winches in the 8-9k lb range were all close in weight...around 80 to 90lbs. It seems the sythetic rope cuts somewhere around 20lbs when comparing it to the same winch with wire.

No matter the winch get the synthetic line and hawser. Saves a lot of weight.

Thanks guys, looks like I will most likely go with the synthetic.

Looking at the recon, mile marker and engo but leaning toward the recon 10.5k.
