OK...I think ya'll have convinced me to go buy a welder this weekend...and get to work.....

Thanks for all of your comments.....

I did think about the ponding water on top of the fenders and I thought I might drill a small hole in each corner to allow for drainage.

Keep the comments and advice comming! It's greatly appreciated!

Any pointers or help with the welding would be greatly appreciated to...but I'll take what I can get....

Thanks

Default to fix the water issue.

make them so they have a slant down then they wont pool water. cut a small groove in the rear of the top portion then the water just runs out! no extra holes in the top. bad!

You could design them to be dimple dyed or whatever its called; add strength, cut weight.

They look good. To keep the water from laying on top jyou could just have the steel plates lay just on top of the tubes but have them short enough so the must of the cross tubing could be seen.

I have mocked up a set of front and rear tube fenders using grey pvc tubing. That way you will give you an actual idea of what they will look like without sending all the money on metal trying to figure things out. Also you will be able to mount them to see how they look on you JK.

Thanks! That's not a bad idea, mocking it up out of pvc. That would also give me time to practice my welding skills instead of jumping right into it.

great idea..if you look at our stock jk fenders they are slanted down from the top of the fender to the bottom...width end...just slant a tiny bit with the
pipes under the sheet metal, this should keep the water from puddling......just a thought...idea..what if you were to make them out of aluminum?it would be strong and light...
