Thanks for all of your comments.....

I did think about the ponding water on top of the fenders and I thought I might drill a small hole in each corner to allow for drainage.

Keep the comments and advice comming! It's greatly appreciated!

Any pointers or help with the welding would be greatly appreciated to...but I'll take what I can get....

Thanks
just some advice. i would start with a much simpler project if you are just buying a welder and getting started. do you even have a tube bender? welding is a art and you won't be great at it right from the start. i duno mabye i don't know anything at all. but if i were you i would make you a nice cart to put the welder on or even better go down and help somebody out that has a welder and get some lessons.

very true they look way cool but i have welded for a few and it takes lots of practice for many reasons but strength and looks would be 2 big facters having a peace of your fender fly off at a hundred down the free way would not be good, and a clean cut design gets ugley real fast with even slighty less then perfect welds

when I left the shop today he was bending and cutting the tube to mount the rear coilovers

I was suggesting it from a drainage standpoint, but would double as strength adder/weight reducer. Could be cool.

Just a thought, but if possible you may want to think of a marker light location. I know that was a feature I was looking for when considering getting new fenders. Ultimately, I ended up chopping my fenders though but i am still trying to come up with a way to add marker lights. Good luck, it looks good so far.

What program did you use to create your models? I have used Autodesk Inventor for a lot of stuff and am curious

The dimple died look and function is kind of cool! not a bad idea. I also agree with many of you that suggest I start with a smaller project to learn how to weld. That is why I am looking for someone in my area that has experience that would want to help and help teach me along the way. I think I'm going to go get some pvc this weekend to start mocking it up and that should give me some time to find somebody to help and also give me time to fine tune the design.

As for the program I used to create the renderings, I used AutoCAD to design it and then took that into FormZ to model and render it out. I'm an architect by trade and I use those programs on a daily basis so it wasn't too difficult.

I'll post some more pictures once I have a chance to mock up the design in pvc.

Oh...and I thought about the side marker light and what I'd like to do it run it throught the tube and mount it on the outside in basically the same location it is on the stock fenders. I hope that makes sense.

Anyways...thanks for all of the comments!

I'd trade you welding skills for CAD skills if I was in your area... I've been wanting to learn that program for a while now!
