Yeah really you are going to spend all the money on a hard top and then chop it up to try something that might not even work........... not smart

Use clear plexiglass, it will be like the top is down 24/7 except you will never get wet again!

Have you ever considered putting wipers on the inside of your windshield?

I found a hard top at a local junk yard that has one of the sides cracked anyway, so it its not really expensive. I have talked to the guy twice and am trying to get it for about $300. If I cant get it cheap I'll look for something else to build it out of. I already have the canvas safari top but Im tired of it collecting water and dumping into my lap. I would probably use 2x4 to bulid some sort of a frame for it then once its all done paint it all with herculiner to make it look uniform. I really do want to try this and will def post pics if I start building something. Anyway input (aside from wisecracks) would be greatly appreciated. For those that think its a ridiculous idea- lets hope your wrong.

For that price I say why not. If the front panels are in good shape they're probably worth that by themselves. If the rear section doesn't work out you've atleast got them.

On my international scout I did something similar with a damaged top. I cut the back out right behind the cab and in front of the rear windows. Then I attached a bikini top to it and stretched it the across the rear cage to complete a safari type top.
