Hi All, new here so I do not have a profile yet. I am looking to lift my 3yr old Jeep 'Ginger' in April and need some help.

About Ginger:
2014 JK Unlimited Sport, 6speed
No mods - completely stock

About me:
Canadian in Southern Ontario
Drive the Jeep daily to work and for kid/dog transporting
Want a daily driver to be my toy as well
Target offroad 5% of the year but I want that 5% to count!

About the lift I want:
3.5"
35" tires
MUST - BF Goodrich A/T K02 (my favorite tire!!)
Hard Target - using stock JK Sport rims with the BFG AT
Good and safe on road performance (minimal brake dive, no spacers)
Ground clearance and some articulation
Relatively cheap (~$500 range for the lift)

Can you all provide suggestion on the lift and feedback on what other questions I should be asking/info I should be gathering? Will the 35s fit on the stock JKUS rims?

AND - please dont lecture me on 'this post already exists, do a search'. I joined to get help and speak to people. If I am in a group of people, I dont question whether something was discussed or not and can I have the meeting minutes - I will just ask the question of people I respect and hope for a reasonable and sociable answer. Asking for advice on lifts is like asking for beer recommendations. What one likes others may not and vise versa. My strongest recommendation is to find local Jeepers with various lifts and go for a ride to see what you like. Ride is 100% subjective. Second no one is going to say they spent hard earned money on a lift and it sucks. For me I am on my second lift and have been with it for a couple of years. My lift is the EVO 3" plush ride coils paired with Rancho RS7000 MT shocks and Rock Krawler front lower control arms. You can build the same lift or go with the EVO 3" Enforcer which can be purchased through Off-Road Evolution or Northridge4x4. It will run you about $1800 without shocks.

As for wheels again it is all about what you like. For me I love my ATX Slabs but if I had to do over I would go with the KMC Mechette wheels.

$500 budget for 3.5" is no go.

A decent set of shocks is $400+.
Coils are around $150 a axle.
At 3.5" you need steering geometry correction brackets or adjustable front/lower control arms.
At 3.5" you REALLY should be doing a drag link flip to settle the steering (Around $350+ for a high steer)
At 3.5" you need an adjustable track bar in front, and at least a rear track bar raise bracket.
You need brake line drop brackets or longer flex lines.
You'll want bump stop extensions for 35" tires and stock flares.

Your best bet, and not being rude at all, is to do a spacer kit to try and be around the $500 area. There is no way to properly lift a JK 3.5" for anywhere remotely close to $500.

I really love the FOX IFP 2.0 shocks, they ride very well on and off road. They are right around $150 per shock.
I'm really happy with the current generation of Rock Krawler triple rate coils, around $150 an axle.

There is your basic set up. Your welcome.

 

U don't need a 3.5" lift for 35" tires. 2.5" is more than enough with stock fenders. 1.5" lift with trim fenders will fit 35" tires. So if working on a budget, u would be better off with a body lift or budget boost lift. Then add other components if needed.

 

You are dreaming to get all that for $500. Think more like $3k

 

Better yet for 500, hack the fenders, buy some wheel spacers, maybe source some 19/60 coils for cheap, and get a good front diff cover.

35s will fit, stock handling, and suspension, and still well under 500 bucks.

 

Larry...what kind of hack are you? You totally forgot about axle breather extensions, a programming tuner and a Big Brake Kit for those 35's. It's almost like you weren't even close to your usual "A game" of advise.


P.S. That was meant to be sarcastic humor if you didn't catch it in my typing. You provided quite a bit of honest and trust worthy advise

Can you tell me a little about that? I would be open to 2.5" as well as suggested. Again, I'm pretty new to all this so I'm as green as a lime

 

Add another $150 for some Rancho geo correction brackets instead of the cam bolts to the kit below and he's good to go at $2K.
