New Rubi Owner Needs Accessory Advice?
You don't need any of that stuff. I do have a locking gas cap and wheel locks (that have been sitting on my work bench for almost 2 years). Do you live or take your Jeep somewhere that you might need them? When the weather is good the top is off the Jeep. I have taken the Jeep camping more times than I can count and the seats still look new. Hope this helps.
That's all great and I agree with what folks have said so far. Locks if you need them, seat covers if you like them, forget the rest.
Now, for the REAL absolute, must-have accessories & modifications. These are absolutely necessary and many of them won't cost you much, but will make your Jeep more enjoyable to use.
1. The drilled mirror mod. Drill a 1/8" hole in the plastic underneath your side view mirrors. See this thread:
https://www.jk-forum.com/forums/jk-write-ups-39/drilled-side-view-mirrors-1291/
2. Improved hood latches. If you do any highway driving at speeds above 50mph, you will need improved rubber hood latches. The hood of the JK has a tendency of fluttering about at high speeds. Daystar makes some great ones that keep the hood "Gutentight". See here:
https://www.jk-forum.com/forums/modified-jk-tech-2/daystar-hood-wrangler-replacement-hood-latches-33058/
3. Better headlights. If you live in a metropolitan area, never offroad at night, or don't have deer where you live, you don't need this. However, if you find yourself driving at night often with no streetlights or ambient city light, then you will want improved night vision. It's your choice whether you want to upgrade your crappy factory headlights like this:

or whether you prefer to supplement the crappy stock lighting configuration like some of the folks did here:
https://www.jk-forum.com/forums/jk-show-tell-33/show-off-your-lights-60698/
4. Improved differential covers, skid protection and recovery gear (only for off-road). If you plan to use your rig offroad in it's stock configuration, I would recommend some diff covers and recovery gear such as straps, jacks and tools. There's tons of threads on covers and recovery gear. Here's one:

5. JK sticker. This is a must-have for all forum members. See here:

Hey Everybody,
I bought my first Jeep a couple days before Christmas. I got a 08 Rubi Unlimted; and am pumped out about my new ride. When I bought the vehicle my salesperson was suggesting some accessories to me.....that he highly recommed me buying to put on my new Rubicon. My question for you as a possible current Rubicon Unlimited owner is - do you agree that these accessories are a must? Is there anything else you recommend I buy for my Jeep that perhaps I haven't listed? Thanks for your help!
- Spare Tire lock - (apparently something to put on my spare tire to keep someone from being able to just unscrew the tire and steel it). Makes sense....but does anyone have a brand or style lock they recommend?
- Gas Cap Lock - (same as above.)
- Undercoating - some kind of aftermarket undercoat that is sprayed to the underside of the Jeep to keep its parts (engine, trans, muffler, etc) from rusting.
- Hood lock - to where nobody can open my hood without a key.
- Seat Covers - to protect my drivers, passenger, and rear seats. I am interested in this; but am wordering if there are any that anyone recommends....that fit the seats good, protect them well, and are affordable?
Again - any advice on any of this please let me know? Any other suggestions on what I should buy to protect my new investment........I would love to hear them!
Thanks again!

The Unlimited is too low as delivered from the factory. Money needs to be spend on a good lift (height to be determined by size of tires desired) and good armor. Then larger rubber and ditching the factory bumpers for something that will give better protection and approach and departure angles. But then I'm surprised at all the "Bling" mods people do when they have no armor or winch; so maybe I look at it differently than most.
If you want to get seat covers go with the wet okoles Neoprene. I had a set in my TJ and they were great. I got a set of Rugged Ridge for the JK and I don't care for them as much as the wet okoles!
I see, you are a new Jeeper... Welcome to the forum
