The only reason I went with a 315/70/17 is because they do not offer the BFG A/T KO in the 35/12.50-17

Otherwise I would have went with the 35/12.50-17 and for the obvious reason that the metric sizes are more difficult to figure out the dimensions if the store front your buying them from did not list the information.

I am speaking for myself of course.

Just realized that looks like a smartass reply.
I mean it, good explanation of the dimensions.

The 315/70-17 is only 12.4 wide and 34.5 tall.

I would say that is the difference if your 35x12.50-17s are actually 35" tall
Yes but not always....there are only a few brands that are true to size...BFG is not one of them, have them on our JKU, they are supposed to be 37's but definitly do not measure up to a true 37. Just keep that in mind when ordering.

Wasn't a smartass comment at all..Just explaining the metric tire size. Like some others have mentioned, its just availability in certain sizes. Some manufacturers don't make specific combinations in the brand of tire you want. Like others have mentioned, the tires run smaller than advertised. I have heard KM2s are the most off.

If i were you, and you can get the 35X12.5 in the tire brand/style you wanted, then do it.

My friend has the GY Duractracks and I have BFG KM2's. We both have about 7K miles on them. We just did some mudding and his tires collect WAY more mud than mine. It was just caked on... no tread was showing at all. I still had tread showing even though I had mud in the grooves. Not sure if you are into mudding, but I don't think the GY's are a good choice for mud.

IMO.. I would rather have the KM2's becuase of the way it handles in mud and on rocks. Snow hasn't been an issue either. I just know that when I am in mud, I want traction.
