I recently added an automatic trans cooler and have had no problems with overheating.
Found out one ding sound indicates trans overheating.
But....still turn on heater full blast when towing uphill.

Tiny hijack: which cooler did you use?

The problem with any of this is you said it went down with the A/C turned on. If that is the case there is something wrong as the A/C only puts the fan on high which it should have already been on. If the temp gauge moved, the computer knew you were getting hot and should have put the fan on high speed. With the A/C on the engine bay temp will rise as the condenser dumps hot air into it. (page 337 of the owner manual) turning on the heat will draw heat out of the engine bay, but not all that much, but maybe just enough to stop a boil over.

That's why I'm wondering if it's a wiring/hi speed issue.

this is the cause from some heavy mudding and the mud was heavy and sandy so it fubarred my fan motor. My radiator is caked full.
I didn't read this before my last post, clean the radiator, I think the temp went down because you turned on the heat and stopped. At least I hope it went down because of stopping and the heater.
