So do I. When you use the interior lights at night, the white sure does reflect nicely and light up the inside well.

AEV charges $750 to paint the inside. Lets just say, I decided against it. Im going to do it myself with Duplicolor.

Default Painted My Hard-TOp Interior Over the Weekend 5-25-08

I have a 2 door Sahara.

Bought 7 cans of Duplicolor Truck-bed Liner
2 rolls of masking tape
220 grit sand paper
newspapers
Spray-trigger-gun attachment for spray-cans. -A MUST- Makes the job 1000 times easy.

The Duplicolor Truck-Bed liner spray does not travel far (like normal spray-paint).
You also need to shake the hell out of it. That is some gritty stuff.

Also clean out all of the sanding debree. It gets messy, but MAKE sure you blow all of that stuff out, or the paint won't adhere properly.

Stuff dries VERY fast.

also use the torx (get one at any auto parts store or hardwear store)wrench to remove all of the clips from the Driver & Passenger side over head panels.

Looks much better! pretty dark in there now. might need to get some of those push lights that sell in the hard-wear store.

Took about 8 hours total.

2.5 hours to sand
0.5 hours clean, de-grease
2.5 hours to apply tape newspaper
2.0 hours to paint (I was very slow, and took my time with the coats about 4)

Default More info-pic's

Also, be CAREFUL with tape on the foam in the sun. The foam padding was sticking a bit to the tape when I removed it.

Be Careful especially with the padding on the Driver & Passenger-Side over head panels. That foam is weaker than the foam on the back part of the hard-top.

Good Luck.

And If you get mad at it. STOP..... and come back to it later. You'll only get more pissed at it if you screw it up. It's not a hard task, but you have to be patient.

Painting is all about prep-work.

The better you prep the easier it is to paint. (like cooking)

And PS: North Bethesda is really Rockville. lol j/k I'll keep an eye out for you on the road. I'm thinking of doing this project this week, weather permitting (I hate running my safari top, duster and wind jammer if it's going to keep raining).
I know, just like North Potomac is G-Burg. but that what the address is. I painted the interior. looks good. check the post around post # 24/25. thanks for the tip.

I actually started putting stickers from my travels on the interior ceiling. You don't see them unless you are inside looking up! Most people who have seen it think its really cool.

I have been thinking about doing the same thing...I also thought about letting my passengers (or at least the passengers I approve of) sign the top with a black sharpie or something like that. Just something to make my top unique.

hey windsor, does it help with reducing the heat radiating into the interior? cuz here in south texas, it gets hot as hell and for the 1st 7-10 minutes it feels like your head is catching fire, even with the A/C on
