I have a 2 door Sahara.
Bought 7 cans of Duplicolor Truck-bed Liner
2 rolls of masking tape
220 grit sand paper
newspapers
Spray-trigger-gun attachment for spray-cans. -A MUST- Makes the job 1000 times easy.
The Duplicolor Truck-Bed liner spray does not travel far (like normal spray-paint).
You also need to shake the hell out of it. That is some gritty stuff.
Also clean out all of the sanding debree. It gets messy, but MAKE sure you blow all of that stuff out, or the paint won't adhere properly.
Stuff dries VERY fast.
also use the torx (get one at any auto parts store or hardwear store)wrench to remove all of the clips from the Driver & Passenger side over head panels.
Looks much better! pretty dark in there now. might need to get some of those push lights that sell in the hard-wear store.
Took about 8 hours total.
2.5 hours to sand
0.5 hours clean, de-grease
2.5 hours to apply tape newspaper
2.0 hours to paint (I was very slow, and took my time with the coats about 4)

When it comes to the sanding, how much did you sand? Just to get the shine off or did you go further and take off some of the texture?
I was thinking about the line x deal the other day, and then this thread got started. I would "think" other then a visual improvement, it would reduce exterior noise as well? I would like to see if someone has gone that route and the cost.
I haven't really had it out to long as of yet. I park in a garage at work all day, so it's not in the sun (only on the weekends), and I've only had the Jeep for 3 weeks. We'll see here in a month though. Not as bad a Texas up here in MD, but we do get our share muggy, hot & humid days. I'll have to get back to you on that. I have the Khaki top, not the black. So that might help.

Thanks for the info Windsor, I'll be tackling this after I get my Jeep back from the shop and getting the lift, tires and bumpers.

I just picked up a used 08 Rubi, and the inside of the hard top was painted black. It was so well done that I thought it must have been a factory option to go with the dark gray interior. I have to say, having been in both an unpainted and a painted one, I really prefer the looks of the painted top. Interior mods have always been low on the priority list with my Jeeps, so I doubt I'd have gone to the trouble myself. But I am sure glad that the previous owner did!
