Default Painted Top???????

I have a bright silver JK Unlimited Sahara with a 2" superlift and 33" cooper STT tires on factory wheels. I have a price of 500.00 to smooth and paint the top to match the body from a top notch body shop. I think the painted top looks great. What do you think, what are the pro's and cons? I asked my wife and she said it would look like a Hummer.......she doesn't understand how bad that hurts... I need JK FORUM opinions. Thanks in advance for all of the great ideas. This is a great group!

I think it would look great! You better post pics if you do this. $500 sounds like a really good deal. Tell your wife you'd love a hummer.

That is really cheap. If you trust them and want it, I would say get it done. You won't find a better price. Personally, I would not do it, it will look more like a hummer and I would not want more comments. I do like the 'look' of the painted top but also like the black and with painted you have that much more paint to wash/wax and get scratched. It's a Jeep, why spend money on that!? My thoughts....

I think a painted top would look great. I have been wondering if anyone had done it yet. Take pics if you decide to do it.

I say go for it, just make sure you put a huge decal on the hood that says "JK" so people know it's not a hummer.

I don't think you'll have any more problems with the painted top than you would with the rest of the body if you go to a good paint/ body shop. Just remember good scratches add character and remind people it's still a Jeep and not some soccer mom ride so don't be afraid to get it dirty.

To me, that pic looks more like one of those Mercedes G-Class SUVs-- but nicer I don't think it would look like a hummer... I say go for it.

Oh yeah, and I think maybe the matching painted bumper is key. Silver body, flares and top with black bumpers... Post pics!
