i drove around all last year without the carpeting. you will feel lot of heat coming from the underneath. I thought about Herculiner but knowing me i'll f it up so I got a quote from local Line-x and it'll cost about $800 with me removeing everything except for the driver seat. I'm not sure how it will sheild from heat and buffer noise but i have been told it is very easy to clean and will make the interior very durable.

I pull my carpet out every time I go wheelin. When I get home I wash out the jeep with a water hose, dry it and reinstall my carpet. I want to line it with Herculiner but as a daily driver it is hard to find the time where I can park it for a couple of days.

Im seriously considering doing this, the do it yourself line-x way i read somebody did that cost about 80-100 bucks. I think im gonna go this route, and i was wondering if anyone has any experiance doing it themselfs. How hard is it to remove everything? How hard it is to apply the coating, and putting everything back in. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated

its hard.

thinkmud did it, there is a thread on it. It is very labor intensive, and may or may not be worth it, depends on how hard up you are for money and how bad you want it coated....personally i think i am going to wait until i can pay someone else to do it....have not decided yet though...saving 600 dollars does sound pretty nice!

I voted "Not Gonna do it" but in reality, I may do it in a few years... I've already been rained in a few times, but luckily my JK aired-out well and didn't contract jungle rot (yet). That being said, I think that there may come a day when the carpet has lived its life and needs to retire to the trash bin...

I want my cake and get to eat it too. I'm planing on doing the liner sometime in the future but I'll more than likely keep the carpet over top. That way when I want to run without the carpet to protect it all I do it pull it. When I'm done I go back to my carpet.

No plans to unless there is a reason (like going into deep water). I don't have any plans for that though, I hate the mud and deep water scares me

Actually this is probably the only reason I may consider it. If/when my Jeep becomes strictly a secondary vehicle and I go the Bikini top route for the whole summer, I'm sure that means some unexected encounters with rain.

For those thinking about the bedlining thing....If durability is one of the reasons, why? Are yall thinking the Jeeps are gonna rust away in your lifetime? The fact is, most of you won't be keeping them that long.Jeep will come out with something cooler. I mean 800 smackers is a lot of dough. What else could you do with it?
